Join me as I talk about how I learned that I was born with proximal femoral focal deficiency (PFFD). I was an adult, on a mission to learn more about my body. Wondering how my limb difference might affect pregnancy, I requested my medical records from the Shriners Hospital - the amazing place where I had my amputation and received prosthetic care throughout my childhood. Understanding my body and the medical terminology used to describe my limb difference made me feel empowered. That's one of the 'WHYS' for this platform... to introduce these limb difference concepts to kiddos early on. Information today for self-advocacy tomorrow.
